Public Provident Fund(PPF) is a risk free investment option with guaranteed returns assured by the central government. An individual may open an PPF account for the self as well as on behalf of minor or a person of unsound mind of whom he/she is the guardian. There is no provision for joint account in the PPF Scheme. During a year minimum five hundred rupees and maximum one lakh fifty thousand can be invested in PPF account. This limit includes the investment on behalf of minor in minor’s PPF account. The PPF account is not subject to attachment under any order or decree of a court of law.
